Park Events for the Year
Second Saturday Plant Sales
The Friends hold
a plant sale on the Second Saturday of every month from 10:00am till
2:00pm, featuring the unusual and hard to find.
Visitors will
find a large selection of air, butterfly, native, ginger, begonia,
bromeliad, orchard, ferns, cactus, succulents, ti and bedding plants. A
portion of the plants were propagated and grown in the park by
volunteers. All proceeds benefit the park for enhancement of current and
new facilities.
Friends Propagation Day
Every Thursday volunteers meet to prepare new plants for sale at
the Saturday Sales.

Garden and Home Workshop ~ Sept. 8th @ 11:00 am
On the second
Saturday in May and September, the Friends hold plant workshops. They
feature a specific plant genus and cover the care, feeding and
maintenance of the various varieties of plants.

Saturday of the month is the Annual Herbs in the Park, featuring talks
and demonstrations on growing, cooking and decorating with herbs.

Holiday In The
Gardens ~ Dec. 8th.
We are happy to celebrate the Holidays with a new event this year
titled: “Santa’s Garden Celebration”. It will be from 9:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8th .We will have
entertainment, programs, kid’s activities, food, plant sales,
merchandise sales, a chance drawing, and pictures with Santa and Ms.
Claus. The Gardens will be decorated for the Holiday Season with
festive plantings and displays. This
daytime event "Santa's Garden Celebration" will replace the previous
evening event "Holiday in the Gardens" In lieu of regular
park entrance fees donations of toys and non-perishable food items
will be collected at the gate. The toys collected will be
distributed by the Flagler County Marine Corp “Toys for Tots”
program. The Church Women United Foundation will create food
baskets with the food items and distribute to the less fortunate in
Flagler County. Event admission is one unwrapped toy per vehicle or
one non-perishable food item per person.
With the event there will
be a Gingerbread House contest.
The
Friends Second Saturday Plant Sale is scheduled for Saturday,
December the 8th and will be in conjunction with the
“Santa’s Garden Celebration”. Here you will find an array of holiday
plants including, Holiday Cactus and Poinsettias.

Celebration ~ Apr. 19 & 20th @ 10:00 am
Held on the Saturday
and Sunday nearest April, 22nd (Earth Day). Featured are arts
and craft sales, environmental groups, re-enactors, kid’s activity area,
weekend nature exhibits, food vendors and plant sales.

Migration Bird
Walk with a Ranger
8:30 a.m. – 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park will
host a bird migration program on May 3rd. This program is geared
toward those interested in experiencing spring migration in progress
at the gardens. Park Ranger Joe Woodbury will explain techniques
used to identify spring migrants, their habitat and behavior.
A limited number of
binoculars will be provided; however, guests are encouraged to bring
their own. The walk will depart from the Visitors Center at 8:30
a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring drinking water, binoculars
and field guides.
